Switch scrolling for a sauna

Reducing screen time has become a much-discussed topic in recent years. Most of us have tried at some point to spend less time scrolling on our phones and switching off from social media and the internet. Research has shown that doomscrolling, or spending excessive time viewing negative news, has been linked to feelings of anxiety.

However, good intentions don’t always translate into good practices. You might think one of the easiest ways to spend less time on your phone is by simply separating yourself from it. Maybe you’ll place your phone in a different room, leave it in your bag, or try shutting it away in a drawer. Then ten minutes later, your phone buzzes, and suddenly you’re back scrolling. It’s all too easy to get your hands on that siren of a screen when it’s calling to you from only a few feet away.

For the comfort of our guests, we don’t allow phones in the state-of-the-art thermal suite. Spending a few hours in an environment where you physically can’t have your phone could be the perfect way to kick-start your digital detox journey. When you’re in The Cove’s Thermal Spa, your phone will be inside a locker, while you’ll be lounging in the Vitality Pool, relaxing in the Salt Therapy Sauna, or breathing in the soothing scents of the Aroma Steam Room.

As you sit peacefully, let your worries melt away, and you’ll likely find your mind beginning to clear and your thoughts flowing freely, no longer interrupted by the call of the algorithm.

For two blissful hours, indulge in a bit of ‘me-time’; disconnect, unwind, and reset your mind, body and soul.

It’s been shown that the best way to create a new habit is by starting with a bite-sized, rewarding and fun objective, repeating it, and making it part of your routine. A Thermal Spa Experience could be the perfect way to start your journey towards nurturing a healthy relationship with your phone.
